Have you ever been in a position where you had to stay inspired but just couldn’t muster up the energy for it? We all feel a lack of motivation from time to time, and beating it can be quite difficult at times. Inspiration is all around us, yet, being mindful of the same is challenging. Knowing how to balance life, work, and relationships is central to success and is important to sustain a meaningful existence. Here, we share some ways to take control of your life and be inspired at all times.

1. Being more mindful

When was the last time that you ever did something while thinking about its purpose and meaning behind it? We often rush to do things, and the everyday routine, with its stress and lack of time, does not offer a place to be more mindful. However, taking the time to pay attention to the smallest of things can help inspire your life to have more purpose. Whether it is a small favour for a friend or even going to the market to buy groceries, trying to enjoy the process can help boost motivation.

2. Slow down

We’re often told that there is not enough time in life and we must push ourselves to achieve our goals. While being productive is important, doing everything too fast might leave you completely uninspired to do anything. Slowing down helps you focus on the task at hand, see the bigger picture, and even help you do things better.

Cal Newport, the famed author of Deep Work, explains his concept of slow productivity. Here, an individual gets assigned less work to avoid burnout and get more things done, ultimately being more productive. The phrase less is more can truly be beneficial to keeping those inspiration levels high.

3. Healthy competition

Too often in the workplace, it is easier to get bored with the routine work, and feelings of inspiration drop. Indulging in healthy competition (and rewarding workers) may increase satisfaction and efficiency levels. By competing with peers, you inspire yourself to learn more and produce better work, satisfying not only yourself but also the company. Motivating your workforce through such measures can lead to feeling inspired without getting burned out or bored.

4. Vision

Setting goals early on in life can be a good way to see a progression. When uninspired, a quick visit down memory lane can tell you if it’s all worth it or not. Knowing your vision and the present challenges can show signs of your long-term goals stagnating or changing their course. Not to mention, clarity of goals will also help you tune out the negativity around you. A quick assessment can make you feel inspired, giving you the energy needed to transform your life.

5. Spending time outdoors

Ever since the pandemic hit, people have been spending time indoors more than ever. While it may be comfortable, it brought about unintended consequences that led to a drop in inspiration. Shift work, a lack of sunlight exposure, and electrical lighting, among other things, show a high risk for physical factors such as obesity to mental factors such as depression. This naturally causes you to feel uninspired all the time.

Measures can be easily taken to prevent this. A simple walk outside or spending more time in green places such as forests and parks improves mood substantially. This gives you the necessary inspiration for you to get started on your work easily.

6. Avoid the urge to multitask

Being a jack of all trades can be addictive, but the science behind the claim says otherwise. On average, people need 15% more time to complete the same tasks while multitasking. Ending up having to spend more time on a given task can easily make anyone feel uninspired. Resisting the urge to multitask and focus on one given task can increase productivity by not having to spend too much mental energy on too many tasks.

7. Reading

Without learning anything new or not being continuously challenged, most individuals would not feel inspired. Reading helps you challenge existing notions and discover new opportunities that you may not have come across. A good book can inspire you to take dive into new arenas and explore potential opportunities giving you the energy to do more.

Get Inspired in Life Again

It is never too late to make small changes that affect your life in a big way. When life throws numerous hurdles at you, feeling inspired can be difficult but not impossible. Double up your inspiration just by following these tips, so you’re ahead of the game.
